NOD32 Rated Fastest Antivirus on Microsoft Vista

Tuesday, July 31. 2007

Nod32 received its 42nd VB100 award in the February 2007 Virus Bulletin Comparative Review. NOD32 was rated the fastest antivirus software in comparative testing of 15 antivirus products running on Microsoft Windows Vista Business Edition (32-bit). Microsoft’s OneCare most notably failed the VB100 test.

“Over the past nine years, Nod32 has achieved 42 Virus Bulletin VB100 awards, more than any other vendor,” said John Hawes, of Virus Bulletin. “In this most recent Comparative Review, not a single miss or false positive gives Nod32 another perfect score, and NOD32’s ever-impressive speed makes it a top performer on the Vista platform.”

As with its predecessors, the new Trojan, also named “Glamour,” sets out to encrypt data files on any PC it infects, demanding a ransom of $300 in return for a key to unlock files.

MANCHESTER – A growing number of spam e-mails, with purported links to online greeting cards from family and friends, has prompted the FBI and Internet service providers to issue warnings about the messages.

The FBI warned about the matter after receiving what it said were a rising number of citizen complaints about the e-mails, which instead of containing birthday greetings actually direct computer users to Web sites that download malicious code into one's computer.
