Win32/glengary.p virus hitting computers

Friday, June 13. 2008

Online surfers are risking their hardware by downloading a software being dubbed win32/glengary.p. The dangerous software is a virus which is set to lie to the user to protect his hardware from mal-ware. The window tells the computer user that his computer is at risk and that serious threats have been found in his hardware. These threats if not neutralized using the win32/glengary.p. By downloading the win32/glengary.p, the hardware is badly infected and presumably would crash soon. Computer software developers are branding it some null pointer bugs which are fixed to corrupt the operating system. Computer anti virus like Kaspersky are being recommended as the best to get the virus out of the computers. However, other good software's are also being used to wipe the bug out of the computer system.

Many anti virus vendors and analysts are looking out for what is win32/glengary.p. The bug is being blamed for corrupting windows and slowing down the computer. Some software’s all which are available for downloading and corrupting files in the computer hardware are wextract.exe, glenwiry.p. They are being associated with Microsoft and this could culminate to Microsoft scum in the offing. Analysts are calling it a Trojan and a possible threat to the hardware. A lot of people are looking for help from various sources about what this bug could be and how to remove it from their systems and it is proving to be dangerous.

Banks slip through virus loophole

Friday, June 13. 2008

Is my money safe? A quiet rule change allows British banks to refuse to compensate the victims of online fraud if they do not have "up-to-date" anti-virus protection, says Danny Bradbury

A small addition to the Banking Code seems like such a minor thing. But the change, which came into effect at the end of March, has analysts and academics alike alarmed at what it could mean for online banking customers. Since the 2005 edition of the code (which dictates how UK banks do business with customers), section 12.9 has advised customers to keep their PCs secure. "Use up-to-date antivirus and spyware software and a personal firewall," it says.

The contentious addition to the new version is section 12.13. "Unless you have acted fraudulently or without reasonable care (for example, by not following the advice in section 12.9), you will not be liable for losses caused by someone else which take place through your online banking service," it says.
