Public Education Initiative Promotes Cyber Security Awareness

SAN DIEGO– January 21, 2010 – ESET, the leader in proactive threat protection, today announced that Liz Fraumann has been promoted to the position of director of cyber security awareness and education. Fraumann, formerly director of marketing, brings multiple years of program development, marketing and leadership experience to her new role. Fraumann will head ESET's cyber security initiative, Securing Our eCity, which is focused on general awareness, preparedness and education of cyber security for business and consumers.

Those of you who attended Bixpo and visited with us to play Wii on the Computer Security Solutions booth may have met with Liz Fraumann - she flew from San Diego to help us man our booth - it was an awesome event, made even better with her massive help and great ideas!

Runner-Up Has Six

SAN DIEGO – December 1, 2009 – ESET, the leader in proactive threat protection, has secured its 12th "Advanced+" rating in proactive/retrospective testing from AV-Comparatives, an independent research organization. The latest test measured proactive on-demand detection capabilities of 16 antivirus products. ESET's closest competitor has six (6) Advanced+ awards.

AV-Comparatives provides a three-level ranking system of Standard, Advanced and Advanced+ award. To receive an "Advanced+" rating, a product must be rated with not only an excellent proactive detection rate, but also a low false positive rate.

The retrospective test is performed using passive scanning and demonstrates the ability of the products under test to detect new malware proactively, without being executed.

ESET's NOD32 comes through again winning its 58th VB100 award.The VB100 award was first introduced in 1998. In order to display the VB100 logo, an anti-virus product must demonstrate in the tests that:

It detects all In the Wild viruses during both on-demand and on-access scanning.
It generates no false positives when scanning a set of clean files.

The test for October was conducted on a Windows Server 2008.
