It was discussed in the office how we, betterantivirus.com, could make the products we sell more attractive. We decided that the best way - short of giving away the product - was to provide a freebie. After we had that little conundrum sorted out, the question arose - what do you give away?
"Bright spots in the c't report: Eset's NOD32 detected 68 per cent of the completely unfamiliar attacks."

By Dan Goodin in San Francisco

Antivirus software is getting worse at protecting users from new threats, according to two reports which found malware authors are getting better at disguising their creations.

German computer magazine c't studied 17 antivirus programs and exposed them to completely new samples of malware. What they found wasn't encouraging. Detection rates sank to 20-30 per cent, from 40-50 per cent in a similar test last year.
This advanced heuristics engine enables proactive detection of malware not covered by even the most frequently updated signature-based products by decoding and analyzing executable code in real time, using an emulated environment. By allowing malware to execute in a secure virtual world, ESET is able to clearly differentiate between benign files and even the most sophisticated and cleverly-disguised malware.

(Computer Security Solutions Administrator's note - ESET Objects to the term 'suite,' as all components of ESET Smart Security are fully integrated and unified - unlike bulky suites which are usually cobbled together from separate programs. However, 'sweet suite' is a complimentary pun, and hence beyond reproach)

Channel Labs takes a look at ESET Smart Security v3.0, a well-rounded and reliable security product for both users and channel players.

Since 1992, San Diego-based Eset LLC has been one of the silent warriors behind the scenes in the war on viruses and malware. It has been mostly silent because the company lacks the name recognition that competitors such as Symantec/Norton, Panda and Trend Micro enjoy.
Continue reading "How Sweet Is Eset's New Security Suite?"

Support and Sales

To all of our customers -
Launch day did not go as smoothly as we had hoped - the product was in perfect shape, but the ordering system had a few kinks.

Some of you received multiple emails with erroneous information. Some of you still have not received a confirmation email from us.

We have spoken with ESET, the producing company that makes NOD32 antivirus and Smart Security, and the error was in their ordering system.
Our View -
by Johnathan Kastner

Cybercrime would not be possible if it were not for the millions of unprotected personal computers on the internet every day. Here's how it sometimes works.

1. A vulnerability is found in Windows, patched up, and information is released to the general public. While thousands of computers are protected, thousands more never download the update.

2. Hours or even minutes later, a cyber criminal designs a virus that takes advantage of the security hole. Many computers remain unpatched and are infected by the new virus. Their security is compromised and their computer is hijacked.

We appreciate your NOD32 Enterprise Orders - and we realize that time is money... sometimes a business leaves renewing or purchasing a replacement enterprise anti-threat solution to the very last minute - and this can cause PROBLEMS!

NOD32 enterprise orders are normally processed within a few short hours of receipt of payment - keys and download locations are provided electronically via email; all of this results in a fast process for those that pay via credit-card - this means that your can be up and running in double-quick time.
