Online store will no longer accept Discover Card

We have no disabled Discovercard from the online store - if you need to use a discovercard to pay for your purchase, please use the google checkout or PayPal options. This decision was reached after a run of fraudulent orders - Discovercard has no protection systems in place for merchants and cardholders similar to the Verified by Visa, or MasterCard Securecard security programs. As a result, the burden of fraudulent transactions is borne by the merchants - that means us.

We still welcome purchases with Discovercard - but these must be routed through another payment method - ie, Google Checkout or PayPal - who perform additional protection for your benefit, as well as ours.

Our office will be closed on the 5th of July in celebration of the 4th of July - orders placed online will still be processed the same day, but turn-around is likely to be less "snappy" than our usual 0-2 hour processing goals. Phones will NOT be answered and all voicemail messages will be returned on the 6th of July.

As a way to say thank you to our loyal customers, we are pleased to announce that we are launching our loyalty rewards program - or free bonus system!

During the next week we will be rolling out the system in phases - eventually, almost everyone who buys ESET NOD32 or ESET Antivirus from us will have the opportunity to participate or qualify for a bonus - we began rollout over the weekend - and you may have received an email from us with details of a "free bonus" - which is exactly what it says - Free and a Bonus - it is the first of our loyalty bonuses.

With immediate effect - We are no longer accepting American Express cards in our online store

It is with deep regret that we have taken the decision to no longer accept American Express cards through our online store.

During the last year, it became clear that both Visa and Mastercard were making great improvements in their fraud detection, and disablement of compromised cards - while American Express 'seems' to be lagging behind. A quick glance at the credit card types of 'fraudulent' purchases from our online store yields a 4:1 or greater ratio of AmEx to everything else.

We will still be accepting American Express for phone orders, and for online quotes paid through our quoting system to our business customers - this ONLY affects our retail store purchasing method, and will remain in effect for the foreseeable future.

Once again, we took this step after long and hard consideration - and with a lot of soul searching - it is not out intent to limit payment methods, but the huge cost of dealing with fraud, and the ever increasing ratio of American Express fraud to any other cards, it was the only decision left open to us.

So.. if you need to use your American Express - please phone your order in - we are more than happy to take you order over the phone, or request a quote through our online ESET NOD32 Quote form - we welcome American Express through these payment routes, through Google Checkout still, and through your PayPal account (you can list your American Express as a card in your PayPal and still pay using that method).

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Last night we received a call from one of our customers - he had a piece of malware on his PC - it had got past NOD32 - oh no!! Well it's timely to remind you that no malware protection is ever 100% - and this particular beastie had slipped past ESET NOD32!

Anyway... he had taken his PC to a local PC technician. There was a $35.00 "diagnostic" fee - this was to check the PC without cleaning it up - he paid the fee, they said they couldn't clean the PC... can you say - "Ouch!"
